WELCOME TO LIVING FISHER VILLAGE (IN PULAU UBIN)
NEED ANOTHER REASON TO VISIT PULAU UBIN? HANG OUT AT OUR Rustic VILLAGE HOUSE, AND ENJOY AN UNBLOCKED VIEW OF THE SUNSET.
You can enjoy a tranquil view of the sunset from our Living Fisher Village. Once you arrive, you will receive nature's invitation to play outdoors. This is truly an opportunity for city-dwellers to re-live kampung lifestyle!
1. the first living VILLAGE of Ubinites.
Living Fisher Village gives visitors an interesting insight into the life of residents in Ubin island (aka Ubinites).
In an authentic traditional house, you will be rewarded with untold stories (their past struggles), traditional culture and the original way of kampung life.
Re-live the good old days: collect water from the well, outdoor showers, catch spiders, chill on a hammock overlooking the sea sipping on some coconut water, play in the long kau (colloquial term originate from 龙沟 , which means drains)... We have lined up a series of blast-from-the-past activities for you.
2. Live DEMONSTRATION by Ubinites - Up Close & PersonaL.
Enjoy a walk with Ubinites and experience their culture, up close and personal. Meet our key residents - fish & prawn farmers, boat operators, restaurant owners... They will invite you to their premises, demonstrate their knowledge and describe their lifestyle with great dedication.
Highlights include visit to the fish farm (learn how farmers raise fishes and their challenges), buy fresh seafood from fishermen directly on Weekend Catch, workshop on urban farming, guided wildlife walking tour and cooking demo of traditional dishes. All programs here are interactive, for visitors to dive into another world and another time.
3. getting in touch with wilderness
Living Fisher Village is ideal for visitors who want to watch an unblocked view of sunset, gather around the campfire to share stories, stargazing, night boat tour and spot unique nocturnal wildlife (i.e. buffy fish-owl) during our night walks.
Contact us to help you arrange walking tour / activities before your arrival.
4. Sustainable living - grow our own food
Surrounding our Living Fisher Village is our Organic Garden. Take a deep breath of fresh air as you walk into our gardening adventure.
Ask our farming team, and they will tell you that the concept of a sustainable way of living is not a far-fetched dream! Join us in getting our hands dirty as we transplant, water, fertilise and harvest. With a large fertile land, we warmly welcome people with green fingers to help us grow our own food - including cherry tomatoes, red peppers, lettuces, Chye Sim, asparagus, chillies, and herbs like basil, rosemary, mint, oregano and more!
