WELCOME TO The LIVING FISHER VILLAGE of PULAU UBIN!
NEED ANOTHER REASON TO VISIT PULAU UBIN? HANG OUT AT OUR Rustic VILLAGE HOUSE, AND ENJOY AN UNBLOCKED VIEW OF THE SUNSET.
You can enjoy a tranquil view of the sunset from our Living Fisher Village. Once you arrive, you will receive nature's invitation to play outdoors. This is truly an opportunity for city-dwellers to re-live the kampung lifestyle!
1. the first living VILLAGE of Ubinites.
Living Fisher Village gives visitors an interesting insight into the life of residents in Pulau Ubin, originally named for its granite, batu jubin.
Re-live the good old days and form the new with us: collect water from the well, chill on a hammock overlooking the sea, and enjoy the flora and fauna with friends. Kayak in the night to learn about the mangroves, take some selfies on our mural art, or learn to cook as the villagers do. We have lined up a series of kampung activities for you.
2. Live DEMONSTRATION by Ubinites - Up Close & PersonaL.
Enjoy a walk with Ubinites and experience their culture, up close and personal. Meet our key residents - fish & prawn farmers, boat operators, restaurant owners... They will invite you to their premises, demonstrate their knowledge and describe their lifestyle with great dedication.
Highlights include visit to the fish farm (learn how farmers raise fishes and their challenges), buy fresh seafood from fishermen directly on Weekend Catch, workshop on urban farming, guided wildlife walking tour and cooking demo of traditional dishes. All programs here are interactive, for visitors to dive into another world and another time.
3. get in touch with The wilderness
Living Fisher Village is ideal for visitors who want to watch an unblocked view of sunset, gather around the campfire to share stories, stargaze, develop bushcraft skills, take a night boat tour and spot unique nocturnal wildlife (i.e. buffy fish-owl) during our night walks.
Contact us to help you organise and participate in our outdoor activities before your arrival.
4. Sustainable living (IN construction) - grow our own food
In development for the Living Fisher Village is our sustainable garden.
We intend to develop a farming team who can teach our visitors how farming as sustainable way of living is not a far-fetched dream! Support our dream of getting our hands dirty to transplant, water, fertilise and harvest. Such an educational experience will help young and adults alike appreciate the effort, knowledge and resources necessary to feed ourselves. Write to us if you're keen to support this goal!
